Hey, thanks for stopping by the Web Sharpener! My name is Dave Jansik, owner and founder. I currently live in Boise, Idaho. Since 1992, I have been immersed in the craft of making content. Over the years I have discovered that without good, useful information – and an effective means to distribute it – you will most likely miss the boat with your customers and your business goals.
My experience with the web dates back to 1998 in San Francisco, or right when that dot-com bubble was growing at an unsustainably insane rate. Set aloft by sensations like that “Mahir I kiss you guy“, I got a position at LookSmart.com building category structures for the largest editorially driven website directory at the time. An amazing resource it was, but Google ended up doing it better without having to manage the massive growth of the internet by hand. Plus the bubble popped, LookSmart repeatedly changed business plans and creating content was getting more sophisticated with this Web 2.0 thing.
From there I moved onto CNET, helping make the Shopping categories easier to search. I got to work with a lot of metadata and gained a true appreciation for the art of using the right words to get the right information to the end user. This experience transferred to a short stint at Micron in Boise where I was part of a small team charged with standardizing and normalizing the data company-wide to make reporting more efficient and effective. Again, it was about using the right language to make things findable for everyone.
Over the last few years, my focus has been in marketing, copywriting, PR, SEO and social media, both as an independent contractor and a former staff member at Stoltz Marketing Group here in Boise. I have had the privilege to work with a diverse range clients that include:
